Dear Life Scout,
Congratulations on receiving the rank of Life Scout. The trail to Eagle is narrow and steep, and of scouts that have made it this far, few Life Scouts finish what they have started. There are many resources available for you to use.
The greatest resource you have, though, are those who have already been a part of this process. Do not be afraid to ask questions. We assure you that no one will get upset because you want to know more.
Sincerely,
Lake District Advancement Committee
Project Review and Approvals
- After earning Life Rank, begin thinking of your project. Speak with someone in your unit about a direction to take if you do not have any ideas. Ideas are also available online
- Have a printed copy of the Eagle Service Project Workbook and Eagle Scout Application. These forms are fillable PDF forms. It is recommended to save the form on your computer and print typed forms as needed.
- Read all of the material in the workbook at least TWICE. First for content, then for understanding
- Be active in your troop
- Serve in leadership positions
- Develop an idea for your Eagle Project
- Write your plan for your Eagle Project using the workbook for guidance.
- Get Approval signatures from the Unit Leader, Unit Committee, and Beneficiary before bringing your project to the Eagle Project Approval at Roundtable. The Roundtable is on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Appointments are not necessary for approvals.
- Get FOUR signatures of approval BEFORE beginning work.
- If fundraising for the project is estimated at more than $500, an Application for Fundraising is required. If the form is used, send the form to the Council Office and mark on the outside of the envelope “Eagle Scout Project.” Also, include a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to have the application returned to you.
